The total cost of development is estimated in January 2008 dollars. Estimate is based on current cost for construction on the Big Island. Funding for development is expected to be shared with service providers and other partners. Approximately, an additional 15% of construction cost is expected for fees associated with architectural design, civil, surveys, permitting preparations, and project management.
The La‘i‘Ōpua Community Center will be developed in three phases.
- The first phase involves construction of the Preschool, Community Center, Medical Center, and associated road and parking areas.
- The second phase construction includes the Gymnasium, aquatic facilities, Hale, parking and linkages to Kealakehe Highs School athletic fields.
- The third phase will be the cottages of social service facilities and amphitheater.
