Request for Proposal (“RFP”)

Architectural & Engineering Design Services

WRFP for Architectural and Engineering Design Services to update the current architectural and engineering plans for the construction of four preschool classrooms located on Hawai‘i Island.

Laʻiʻōpua 2020 (L2020) is seeking proposals from qualified architectural firms licensed in the state of Hawai‘i to update the current architectural and engineering plans for the construction of four preschool classrooms located on Hawai‘i Island, Tax Map Key Number (3) 7-4-021:003.

The project involves updating the existing plans and specifications, obtaining necessary permits and other required regulatory authorizations, securing the certificate of occupancy (C.O.O.), and ensuring compliance with local regulations and the specific requirements of the State Department of Human Services for early education centers. This development represents Phase III of the Community Center Complex (“Complex”), which has already gone through the entitlement process, except for the required Phase III building permit. Additionally, the main infrastructure is already in place.

Laʻiʻōpua 2020 (L2020), located on Department of Hawaiian Homelands in Kealakehe, North Kona, Hawaiʻi Island, was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in March 2006. The Complex is adjacent to the Laʻiʻōpua neighborhoods and sits on 26.5 acres leased from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.

L2020’s mission is to provide social, recreational, vocational, economic, educational, and cultural opportunities to the Kealakehe Ahupuaʻa communities. We are a place for pilina (building relationships) and puʻuhonua (comfort, peace, and safety).

The preschool classrooms will support local families by providing a safe learning environment for their children and offering workforce development opportunities for college students. L2020 seeks a firm with the expertise to update the current plans and specifications, obtain necessary permits and other regulatory authorizations, secure the certificate of occupancy (C.O.O.), and ensure compliance with all local and State Department of Human Services regulations for early education centers.
